Each year, the Lifeline Canberra Bookfair recycles up to 1 million books — many to our Bookfairs, many to other charities, and to paper recycling.
Your continuing donations help keep our Telephone Crisis Support Service 13 11 14 available to the community.
We accept all clean books (except Readers Digest Condensed books), comics, magazines and pamphlets, encyclopaedias (pre-1940 or the last 20 years only, please), sheet music, maps and atlases, calendars and postcards, stamps and trading cards, records, CDs, DVDs, talking books, puzzles, board games and models, collectable card games, war gaming and miniatures, computer software and games for current and historic operating systems. Materials in languages other than English are welcome.
There is also a shed in the driveway of the warehouse which is open 24/7 for donations.
Please do not bring damaged or soiled items. If possible, if you have more than a few books, please bring them in a container such as a cardboard box or shopping bag.
If you have a large donation from a house or book shop clearance, school or church fete or unwanted school library books could you please call the Lifeline Canberra office on 02 6171 6300. Lifeline Canberra can arrange for our driver to come and collect all donations between the hours of 7:30am–12:00pm.
NOTE:For the safety of yourself and our volunteers please ensure all boxes are not too big or overfilled. The weight of each box should be able to be lifted by one person. For special requirements please explain to the Lifeline Canberra office when booking.
